Maurice Lynch Music: World Premiere -The Times of Bill Cunningham- NYFF
Maurice Lynch Music: World Premiere -The Times of Bill Cunningham- NYFF
Maurice Lynch Music: The World Premiere of “The Times of Bill Cunningham” a documentary film by Mark Bozek. Narrated by Sarah Jessica Parker on New York Times Photographer and Icon the Late Bill Cunningham. It will premiere at (NYFF) The New York Film Festival at Lincoln Center.“Tonight Josephine”  written by Maurice Lynch is the films theme song. Sang by Legendary Super Model, Singer and Socialite Ms. Pat Cleveland. It will be a great night of Film, Fashion and Style.

Mark Bozek began work on this lovely and invigorating film about the now legendary street photographer on the day of Cunningham’s death in 2016 at the age of 87. Bozek is working with precious material, including a lengthy 1994 filmed interview with Cunningham (shot when he received a Media Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America) and his subject’s earliest pre-New York Times photographs, long unseen. In his customarily cheerful and plainspoken manner, Cunningham takes us through his Irish Catholic upbringing in Boston, his army stint, his move to New York in 1948 (which was controversial for his straitlaced family), his days as a milliner, his close friendships with Nona Park and Sophie Shonnard of Chez Ninon, his beginnings as a photographer, and his liberated and wholly democratic view of fashion. Narrated by Sarah Jessica Parker.

Maurice Lynch Music - Remembering Everyone We Lost on 9/11
Maurice Lynch Music - Remembering Everyone We Lost on 9/11
I still remember so well. On this solemn day over 17 years ago,
how my city was changed forever.

May all of those that lost love ones, and who's lives were changed
find peace and remberance today.

I once heard my pastor The Rev. Dr. James A. Forbes, Senior Minister
Emeritus of the Riverside Church in New York City, share this prayer.

"Holy Spirit, lead me, guide me
As I move throughout this day.
May your promptings deep inside me
Show me what to do and say.
In the power of your presence,
Strength and courage will increase.
In the wisdom of your guidance
Is the path that leads to peace"

Emeritus of the Riverside Church in New York City

A Final Farewell to the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin - Maurice Lynch Music
A Final Farewell to the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin - Maurice Lynch Music
A star-studded send-off for Aretha Franklin in her hometown of Detroit. An emotional goodbye with R.E.S.P.E.C.T for the Queen of Soul. With her soaring voice that became an inspirational standard for other singers to match.

Carried away in a gleaning 24-karat gold casket. As sea of pink Cadillac cars followed the Queen of Soul on her final journey, out of our presence but never out of our hearts................ All Hail the Queen,

It's hard saying good-bye.    My heart is broken.

The Legendary Queen of Soul - Aretha Franklin & Producer - Maurice Lynch - © Maurice Lynch Music
The Legendary Queen of Soul - Aretha Franklin & Producer - Maurice Lynch - © Maurice Lynch Music
Regarded as one of the greatest singers of all time, no singer alive has had as much effect on me as "The Queen of Soul,  Aretha Franklin". The Queen of Soul was my mother’s favorite singer and I grew up with her voice always being played in our home. Even now when I’m working on music  The Queen of Soul is there with me.

The Queen's powerhouse voice was a perfect blend of gospel and blues and she was a game changer in the Music Industry a strong-willed independent thinker, with a voice unlike any other that firmly solidified her place in our history books very early on in her career. Her talents did not just stop at her mind and her voice. A very gifted pianist who loved sitting down to express herself through the ivories.

The Queen of Soul was the first female artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, she has  influenced musicians of all walks of life long before that—and will continue to do so for a long time to come. Her legendary career broke records for female artists on the Billboard charts, winning 18 Grammy Awards and 2 Honorary Grammys. The Queen also was awarded America's highest honor the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005.

I've had the opportunity to meet her on several occasions, but the most compelling was the first time in 2000 at her book launch in New York City. The Queen was not taking photographs that day but, she took one with me and stated “How could I not take a picture with a fine man like you”. It was magical, and at my church, The Riverside Church in New York City at the Funeral of  Luther Vandross, I was assigned to be her host that day. The Queen was so gracious and ethereal. Her legacy and memory will always be a part of my heart and journey. The Queen of Soul will be dearly missed. We know the Queen is being welcomed and given the microphone, with open arms at the heavenly jam session now taking place up above.

Long live the Queen is evident. There is no doubt of the incredible impact she has made both on the music industry and on popular culture during a career that spanned over half a century. The Queen will leave a massive void that cannot be filled and her legacy will live on.

" Aretha Franklin was the voice of our generation and her voice was a feminist anthem for black and all women. Black folks-love ,pain redemption and vulnerability, she sang the secular and the sacred -with a voice that touched our souls-she exemplified the soul of Black folks and transcended it"....Taniquil Jones 2018

All Hail The Queen.

Celebrating Bill Cunningham – N.Y. Historical Society Exhibit. June 08 - September 09, 2018
Celebrating Bill Cunningham – N.Y. Historical Society Exhibit. June 08 - September 09, 2018
If you are in New York City please make sure that you visit the New-York Historical Society’s exhibit.
“Celebrating Bill Cunningham”. The exhibit is running this summer from June 8- September 9, 2018. The opening was incredible. I am so honored that my song “Tonight Josephine” sang by Pat Cleveland is being featured in the museum retrospective exhibit on this great New York Times Iconic Photographer The Late Bill Cunningham........Maurice Lynch

Celebrating Bill Cunningham marks the New-York Historical Society’s recent acquisition of objects, personal correspondence, ephemera, and photographs that reflect the life and work of Bill Cunningham, one of the late 20th century’s most influential trend-spotters and style authorities. The legendary New York Times journalist and photographer was frequently spied on the city’s streets, at fashion shows, and elegant soirées capturing New York’s fashion innovators and cultural glitterati. Showcasing a selection from Cunningham’s Facades project―his eight-year photographic project documenting New York City’s architectural and fashion history, shown at the Museum in 2014―Celebrating Bill Cunningham also features photographs documenting his friendship with floral designer Toni Cimino, known as Suzette; a Cunningham bicycle; his Nikon camera; signature blue jacket; ephemera; and unforgettable William J hats. Curated by Debra Schmidt Bach, curator of decorative arts.
Generous support for this exhibition provided by May and Samuel Rudin Family Foundation, Inc.
The New-York Historical Society would like to extend sincere appreciation to John Kurdewan, who has provided invaluable assistance for our effort to collect items that document and commemorate Bill Cunningham's life. Celebrating Bill Cunningham would not be possible without his insight and support.
Exhibitions at New-York Historical are made possible by Dr. Agnes Hsu-Tang and Oscar Tang, the Saunders Trust for American History, the Seymour Neuman Endowed Fund, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
