Producer Maurice Lynch Presents: Legendary Fashion Model & Singer Pat Cleveland in New Duo-Single Tribute to Josephine Baker titled “Tonight Josephine”.
On Thursday night June 9th in New York City at the historic Jane Hotel Ballroom, The atmosphere was transformed into "Le Jazz Hot" fashion elite and jet setters turned out, everyone from top designer Zac Posen, Steven Burrows, Bill Cunningham to Andre Leon Tally were present to celebrate the duo release party for Pat Cleveland's new book “Walking with the Muses” and her new single “Tonight Josephine”.
Publisher Simon and Schuster and Producer Maurice Lynch kept the songs release under wraps until the private release party. The new duo-single titled “Tonight Josephine” written and produced by Maurice Lynch channels Josephine Baker. Lynch stated “Josephine Bakers contribution to fashion history is enormous and her style has been emulated worldwide. I felt it was a great time to pay tribute to Josephine. Pat embodies the spirit of Josephine and has the right combination of everything for this song, plus she has a wonderful history with Josephine and has been photographed many times in the Baker-esque style. There are very few people who have personally known Josephine or shared the stage with her as Pat did during the legendary "Battle of Versailles" fashion show in Paris".
The night was a magical metaphor of literary style and musical catwalk. After being introduced by Zac Posen. Cleveland thrilled and enthusiastic audience as she appeared in a custom made lavishly beaded gold gown by Zac Posen and headdress and accessories by Mike Jackson New York. As a cast of male dancers and singers serenaded her arrival the crowd roared as she appeared and sang from atop the ballrooms balcony giving the performance of a lifetime before descended the stairs in iconic Pat Cleveland style like a classic cabaret diva during the tribute. As Cleveland finished her performance the show went to another level like a huge burst of confetti when Swarovski covered banana clad Male and Female dancers filled the dance floor.
Lynch stated "This recording is historical and celebrates Josephine’s life, and I know this will be a treat for Josephine Baker Fans and Pat Cleveland Fans worldwide. This has truly been one of those New York nights that will be a part of history". Pats celebrity and mystique is legendary and tonight so many people from the fashion community; Steven Burrows, Calvin Klein, Alva Chinn, Alyson Williams, Wendy Williams, got a chance to celebrate with her. This is just a teaser we are beginning work on a full CD project and cabaret show.
Pat Cleveland is the first artist that I am presenting on Maurice Lynch Music this will open the door and will give me the opportunity to work with and present some legendary entertainment figures some that are not necessarily known as singers. So this is really a magical and creative time for me”.
The Le Jazz Hot Fete was put on by brothers Mauricio & Roger Padilha of MAO Public Relations in New York City, who left no detail unturned. The Art Deco Josephine Baker inspired theme truly celebrated Pat Cleveland's fashion legacy and musical talent.
“Walking with the Muses” by Simon and Schuster is available at Barnes and Nobles, Amazon and other online distributors. “Tonight Josephine” is currently available on ITunes and the CD “Tonight Josephine” will also be available through Barnes and Noble Music, online retailers and at The New York City Library for the Performing Arts.

There's a special kind of magic that comes with musical maturity. Unquestionably Natalie Cole's consummate artistry is always maturing and evolving on full display at every performance. The daughter of jazz and pop legend Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole has forged a successful career in two phases, doing R&B/urban contemporary and then jazz-based pop. She made her stage debut at age 11 and sang in college. Cole then met the writing and producing team of Chuck Jackson and Marvin Yancey in 1973. The next year they collaborated on some sessions that were recorded at Curtis Mayfield's Curtom studios in Chicago. These sessions helped her land a deal with Capitol, and with the Jackson/Yancey team had a string of hit albums and singles from 1975 until 1983. Such LPs as Inseparable, Natalie, Thankful, Unpredictable, and I Love You So yielded five number one R&B hits between 1975 and 1977. These included "This Will Be, "Inseparable," "Our Love," and "I've Got Love on My Mind." She stayed with Capitol until 1983, then switched to Epic for her final album with the Jackson/Yancey tandem. Cole made duets with Peabo Bryson in 1979 and 1980 and Ray Parker, Jr., in 1987. She scored more hits with "Jump Start," "I Live for Your Love," and "Over You" in 1987, and "Pink Cadillac," a cover of a Bruce Springsteen tune, in 1988, and then made her stylistic shift.
The second phase of Cole’s career smoothly eased into transition with "When I Fall in Love," a number her father recorded in 1957. It was included on her 1987 LP Everlasting. She fully embraced the move with the 1991 LP Unforgettable: With Love, earning Grammy Awards and landing a number one pop album that eventually sold over five million copies. The title track featured her doing a duet with her father via electronic elaboration. She continued the jazzy trend with Take a Look in 1993, and she toured and did television specials working with a large orchestra conducted by Nelson Riddle. Holly & Ivy (1994) and Stardust (1996) both continued Cole's exploration of American pop standards. Snowfall on the Sahara was released in 1999, as was The Magic of Christmas, recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra. Ask a Woman Who Knows (2002) and Leavin' (2006) followed for Verve.
With Cole's natural gift for lyrical interpretation and her incredible stage presence and voice makes her one of the best Jazz tickets in town. Selling out venues worldwide her legacy and destiny is legendary. It only takes, taking a look at the incredible video of Natalie singing “Unforgettable “with her father and one is touched by the magic. Natalie’s beauty, style and voice will always hold a special place in America’s heart.
